Welcome to 1876 Victorian England

Hello and welcome to my home. Our Town House (33564 bytes)

I'm Elisabeth Prescott Ashton, and I want to thank you for allowing me to be your host on this journey back in time to 1876.

With some help from my family and our staff, we will show you how a middle-class Victorian family lives; how we decorate our homes, entertain, and play. You will have a chance to go shopping and learn about the "proper Victorian way". And, as a special treat, you'll have the opportunity to spend a traditional Victorian Christmas with us.

We've added another section to Victorian Etiquette on Letter Writing. We hope you enjoy it. Another addition is to Victorian Theatre in the Overview Section with a brief discussion on some of the more popular theatres during the period.

We're going to borrow a little 20th century technology. Some areas in this site are flash-enabled utilizing the Macromedia Flashplayer plug-in. If you don't have it, there's no need to download it as there are corresponding HTML pages for these items.  Should you, however, choose to install the plug-in on your computer, you may download it here.

My family and I hope you enjoy your stay, and that you will tell your friends about us.

Now, shall we begin?
