Hello and welcome to Holiday Manor in the heart of romantic Victorian England.
My name is Elisabeth Prescott Ashton and I want to thank you for allowing me to be your host on this journey back in time to experience Christmas in this year of 1876. As some of you already know, the song playing in the background is Jesu, Joy of Man Desiring by Bach.
There will be pages with music on them. You can turn it off with the control on the top of the applicable pages. There are two pages that I control that will take you off site (Victorian Holiday Boutique and Send a Victorian Greeting Card) as well as two holiday stories to third party sites (Old Christmas and A Christmas Carol). I suggest you save these till last on your visit if interested in any of these.
During your visit you will learn about the way we celebrate Christmas by participating in many of our holiday activities. Some of the areas that will be covered in our tour include our Christmas traditions and legends, our Christmas stories, decorating, and crafts in addition to others. Also, please enjoy some of our favorite holiday music during your visit. Should you desire to learn more about the Victorian period, please feel free to visit us some time at 1876 Victorian England Revisited.
Shall we begin?
This segment of "A Time Travel Christmas" has won the following award. This award was totally unexpected and I am honored to be the recipient of such a prestigious honor.
Note received: Hello Miss Betty, of "Charles Dickens Christmas". The Victorian Ladies Society has visited your website and would like to honor you with an award for your great effort in creating such an attractive, well-done victorian website.
