Tree Care Tips
When a Christmas tree is cut, over half of its weight is water. With proper care, you can maintain the quality of your displayed tree.
| 1. | In selecting a tree, make sure that the "handle" at the bottom is long enough to allow the trunk to fit into your tree stand. |
| 2. | When you get your tree home, cut 1/2 to 1 inch off the base and stand in a bucket of water in a shady place. Check water level several times as it could use up to a gallon a day. |
| 3. | When you take your tree inside, again cut off 1/2 to 1 inch off the base before placing in stand. |
| 4. | Do not put your tree near a fireplace or other heating source (heaters, heat vents, direct sunlight). Lowering the room temperature slightly will also help slow the drying process, resulting in less water consumption each day. |
| 5. | Keep tree well-watered. It's possible that tree will consume approximately 1 quart of water per inch of stem diameter. |
