"Welcome to Betty's Place" is owned and operated by Betty Malheiro of Logicmgmt.com. Its purpose is to provide a site which contains something for everyone.

What information is collected?

There are two areas where information is collected:

a. Website logs provided to me by web host
b. Hit statistics

The following describes what is collected and how it is used.

Log Files

Like most web site managers, I use log files to periodically review/analyze hits received by my site as well as determine bandwidth theft if any. The information collected for these logs includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, pages visited and time spent on each page. These are collected through the use of cookies by my web host and are saved on a secured server and are accessible solely by myself. They are collected for a period of 7 days and then discarded and begun anew for the next 7 days.

Write Santa/Santa Chat

In my "Write to Santa" section, I ask for first name only and a valid email address. The email address is requested solely for the purpose of writing back to the child. We also ask that the parent give permission for the child to write or that the parent write the note for the child.

In Santa Chat, participants will be able to enter their first name or initials etc., as long as it in no way gives anyone identifying information about them. The child's parent is also requested to be present during this chat. We will be doing the best to avoid any unfortunate incidents during this period, however, should the rare instance occur, we want the parent to close out of the chat and return to Santa's Corner. At the same time, the chat room will be closed down.

Hit Counter

I maintain a hit counter also provided by www.bravenet.com which keeps track of the visitors to my site. This hit counter provides similar (but not as detailed) reports as stated in Web Logs above and are accessible only by myself. The counter was placed on the page to provide visitors with the number who have viewed the site previously and to provide me a quick way to obtain a current total without going to the page directly.
