How to Prevent a File from not being Republished (you must be using FrontPage features and server must support FP extensions)

There are some files which should not be published again after you have first published your web. One such file is your guestbook. Should it become necessary to have to republish all your files again, you will save a blank guestbook over your existing one and lose all your data. Other files you won't want to republish include your hit counter and discussion webs.

So, how do you prevent this?

If you're using FP2000, on the menu bar, select View > Reports . Publish Status. Select one or more files; right-click them and click on Properties on the shortcut menu. Then click the Workgroup tab. Select the "Exclude this file when publishing the rest of the web" check box.

If you're using FP2002-2003, on the menu bar, select View > Reports > Workflow > Publish Status. Select one or more of the files, right-click on them, click Don't Publish on the shortcut menu.
