As a member of the web designing community and in my continual search of the internet, I've come across many reviews of web
development/internet related software. Despite the "bad knocks" that FrontPage has received, I am a strong advocate of the software and would
recommend it highly to anyone. As of this writing, FrontPage has been
replaced by Microsoft's latest entry into the web page design area
"Expression Web". "Expression Web" sells for approximately $260;
however, if you're careful, you might be able to still find "new"
versions of FrontPage 2003 on EBay. But be cautious as Microsoft
changed their software that year making transfer of the program from one
computer to another very difficult if not impossible.
Being a member of the AOL web page community for many years, I've also kept a close watch on the Easy Designer board. As a starter web development editor, it is workable; however, periodically experiences problems as the result of AOL's continually working on their servers
and the change from Microsoft's Virtual Machine to Sun Java. An AOL member has graciously created a site to help those who do experience problems with ED and it is called
Spider's Web Help.
In searching the web, I've come across a number of
programs for web designing. I'm familiar with and have used AOLPress,
Notepad, Wordpad, NVU and WS_FTP Pro in addition to FrontPage (various
versions) and feel comfortable in suggesting that you try them.
Below I've compiled a listing of the items for your information only. It
is up to you and completely at your OWN risk*, as to whether or not you
wish to try any of them. (Stormy's Web by creating this list does not
endorse the items shown below except those noted above and accepts NO
responsibility/liability for any loss due to viruses, spyware and other
internet maladies etc.).
In the event that you may be interested, I've placed hyperlinks to the websites where you can read more. In many cases, you can find downloads at
http://www.snapfiles.com. A few other sites where these downloads
can be found are http://www.download.com
and http://www.tucows.com.

If anyone does try these programs or has had experience
with them, please let me know. Perhaps you would be kind enough to volunteer a review of the product.

 Software Reviews
We thought that for general interest, those not familiar with certain programs would like to see what they look like or read a review on them. So, we have decided to add a section just for this purpose.
The first reviews are on AOLPress and Easy Designer both of which were written by a fellow AOL member, Rottencat1. He has been instrumental in helping many members with his guidance on the AOL message boards and I thank him for his generosity in taking the time to write both of the reviews for Stormy's Web. Perhaps, once I get my forum going, he might become a valued participant of the forum.
In his AOLpress review, not only does he give a description and
screenshots on how the program functions, he's also provided a link to where
the program can be downloaded. I'm adding two additional links,
one to an Interactive On-Line Tutorial and one to a .pdf version of the AOLPress 2.0 User Guide. It should be noted that there is both a Windows and MAC version of AOLPress. It does, however, require the use of a third party FTP program for uploading.
Easy Designer is AOL's latest tool for its members. The review
details its advantages as well as disadvantages.
We are pleased to announce a new product review, Trellian
CodePad, an advanced text editor.
