Easter Header (7491 bytes)

Hello and welcome to my Easter pages.

jellybeanbasket.gif (9727 bytes)Easter, in addition to being one of the most celebrated of Christian holidays, is the essence of springtime. The ground has finally thawed giving way to blooms of daffodils, crocuses, hyacinths, tulips and forsythia. The malls are abounding with shoppers seeking new outfits for the “Easter Parade”. There’s a spirit in the air of renewed hope for the future. And of course, we can’t forget the store aisles filled with Easter baskets in every size, shape and color, chocolate bunnies and jellybeans.

Did you know that Easter is the second most important event when it comes to purchasing candy next to Halloween? Nearly $1.9 billion dollars is spent on Easter candy each year. Other interesting facts:

- Ninety million chocolate Easter bunnies are produced each year.
- According to 76% of Americans, the first thing eaten on a chocolate bunny is the ears while 5% eat the feet first.
- Milk chocolate is favored by 65% vs. a 27% preference for dark chocolate.
- The most popular non-chocolate Easter candy are Peeps with an astounding 700 million sold each year during the Easter season.
- Approximately 4.2 million Peeps are made each day.
- In the early 50s, it took 27 hours to make just 1 marshmallow Peep while today it takes only 6 minutes.
- The most popular color of Peeps is yellow, followed by pink, lavendar, blue and white.
- 16 billion jellybeans are consumed at Easter. If lined end to end they would circle the globe nearly 3 times.
- According to a survey of children, their favorite jelly bean flavors are cherry (20%), strawberry (12%), grape (10%), lime (7%) and blueberry (6%).

For your enjoyment, you’ll find in this segment the history of the holiday, its religious significance and all sorts of fun activities for the younger folk (coloring pages, connect the dots, and more). So please help yourself to some jellybeans and enjoy your visit.
