| Take out a pad and pencil and make out your gift list, what you plan to purchase and how much you expect to spend. | |
| Next, review your gift list to see if there are any names which can be removed. | |
| Compare your Christmas budget with your gift list and cut back until they match. | |
| If your list is a long one, consult family members and suggest that individual gifts be given to the children only. | |
| Another suggestion might be a grab bag. Have each family member write down their name on a piece of paper along with 2 or 3 items they would like to receive. Place all in a hat and then have a drawing. In this way, they will get items they want yet the element of surprise will still be there. | |
| Buy a small pocket notebook and prepare a page for each person on your list. Include clothing sizes, interests, hobbies and hints you've already received and the $ amount you plan to spend on each person. | |
| Set a time for you to start and finish your shopping. |
